M&S Holographic Turquoise Textured Polish

Happy Tuesday everyone. I hope you are all well. Today I have a review for you on M&S' Textured Polish Limited in Turquoise Mix which I won from Ale over at her blog I am a Weapon of Massive Consumption. (Thank you Ale!) Turquoise has got to be one of my favourite all time colours. It's bright, eye-catching and reminds me of the ocean and tropical breezes. Added in with the mix of holographicness, this is a dream combination for me. I love love love anything holographic and you can see that the box that the polish is in has holographic fairies and a deer on it.

The polish was really easy to apply and was even which is highly impressive. It also dried quickly too which is great. I love the colour on application too and I'm only wearing one coat of polish here. You can see a little of my nail on my ring finger in the light so I'm certain that two coats would ensure full opacity. The dried polish leaves a gritty textured effect on your nails too which is not to some peoples' tastes but I don't mind it. I do keep rubbing my fingers across the top of my nails though to feel it!

Unfortunately it's no longer for sale on the M&S website although you may be able to pick it up from E-bay.

Overall- I really love the colour, look and ease of application. It's a great polish.

Fairy Glitter nails

Hello and happy Wednesday! It's so sunshiny outside today again.

Yesterday I painted my nails using a new nail art kit that I bought from Primark at Christmas time and discovered again yesterday when I looked through my blogging bag. Always a bonus. I also used the pink ice cream nail polish that I got in my stocking at Christmas.
I adore glitter (as you can tell by the name of my blog!) I think that that sparkliness can brighten everything up.

 Review of the polishes <3

So here is the kit that I bought from Primark which is one of my favourite shops ever. So many pretty items can be found in there. It's like a treasure trove. I think this kit was either £2 or £2.50. I love the iridescent glitter and don't own a white polish so in the basket it went.

The kit has a white polish, a generous bottle of glitter and it was meant to have a funnel too to help put unused glitter back in but mine was missing from the box and it was sealed too.

I also used the pink ice-cream polish that is from Etude House. I tried to blog about this polish before and it was a disaster. I painted my nails, added a further coat which was too much and it smudged all over. So here's take 2.

The white polish after one coat is streaky but applied easily. I just poured the glitter straight onto the wet nail and it dried quickly. I made sure that there was cardboard to catch the excess glitter so that I could pour it back into the bottle afterwards. I really love the effects of this and it lasted a good day until I went in the shower this morning and it has chipped badly. 

The Etude House polish paints on thickly and it was hard for me to get it to be even. Two coats didn't make it better for me personally either as it was too thick. I love the cute bottles and I would buy the other shades too for decoration purposes and for accent nails!

Gorgeous glitter fairy nails. I definitely think that this kit is worth the £2 or so that it cost but I wouldn't recommend just to wear the white coat of polish on its own. The glitter is what makes it.

NOTD Blooboo and Aqua Splash- Models Own

Hello!

Hope you all had a good weekend! Mine was spent watching the last series of Breaking Bad from behind my knees, buying new items to make the bed super comfy and going for afternoon tea which was an engagement gift off my sister-in-law to be :) I will write a separate post on that.

So here are my ultimate wintery looking nails. They remind me of Jack Frost with sugar on top. I love Models Own and they have a 50% sale on right now which take their polishes down to £2.50 each. I popped some in my virtual basket but then didn't check out. I think I thought that I have a drawer full of nail polishes and some I haven't even opened including these two that I used for my NOTD. I really wanted the Mermaid Tears and the Neon purple though!

Aqua Splash is on the left and I adore the colour and the iridescent pieces of glitter contained inside it. I got this from the Clothes Show Live in the goodie bag. The polish on the right is Blooboo which has an adorable name. I think I bought this is in the last sale that Models Own had and never got around to opening it until now. 

I used the Blooboo as the base for Aqua splash as the splash is more of a top coat. I thought the two blues would compliment each other well.

With one coat of Blooboo you can see that that it is uneven in places so I used two coats to ensure it was opaque. It was quite runny to apply and the brush picked up too much polish so I ended up with far too much on each nail every time.

Here you can see that two coats makes it opaque and looks a lot more 'finished.'

Here's the finished look with two coats of the Aqua Splash. One coat didn't disperse enough of the glitter for my liking.
I love the finished look of this but as I put so many coats on I found that it chipped after two days. Which is quite good for my nails actually as they usually chip about four hours after wear no matter which polish I use. Maybe the secret lies within the topcoat!

Pink bubbles and glitter bomb NOTD

Hope you're all ok :)

A few weeks back whilst picking up a prescription at the local pharmacy my eyes were drawn to their nail polish stand. They had restocked them and had an array of polished for £1 each. I had a really good look whilst waiting and then left without buying any. As I left I couldn't stop thinking about them (what am I like!) so went back. I only had £2 change so I narrowed it down to my two favourites and happily came away with a bright pink shade named 'Pink Bubbles' and I adore rainbow sparkles and holographicness so I bought 'Glitter Bomb.' The make of these is L.A Colors - color craze. Now for a £1 I wasn't expecting anything amazing I just loved the colours and they were great for a mid-week treat.

I've just searched Google for them and the website shows a whole host of pretty colours here. Although my 'Pink Bubbles' is a lot brighter than the shade shown on the website. I really love the look of candy sprinkles.

 You can see a little bit of the hologrpahicness here on 'Glitter Bomb.' There were so many pinks to choose from that it was a hard decision and I don't live near the pharmacy anymore as that was my old house before we moved. Maybe they have them in lots of different pharmacies?

 This polish does look really smooth in the pictures and it reminds me of Barbie pink.

I put two coats of Glitter Bomb over the top of the pink.

Packaging:
Cheap and cheerful, nothing fancy at all but they're only £1. I do like the little chunky bottle with the wide lid but it's the colours that sold them to me.
The logo is printed in white and doesn't really stand out.

Price:
A bargainous £1

Performance:
The small brush helps to apply quite precisely and the formula is quite smooth. The polish chipped easily though and as I applied more coats, it chipped after a day .I would buy more again especially if it was a colour that I really loved the look of and because they are so cheap it's a good pick-me-up.

 'Hope' becomes opaque after a few coats of colour as it is a pale pink whereas 'Strength' is opaque and super glossy after just one coat.
I added some sparkliness with 'Pinkabloo'* too which adds a glittering of glitz. This is only £3.49

My little finger and thumb were too short to fit on the box ha ha!

 I attempted the ribbon as you can see and got my nail art tools out. Hats off to those artists who can design nails. I adore them but it is immensely tricky.

NYC - Times Square NOTD

I received this New York Color- (NYC) polish in my Miss Glossy box that I subscribe to and I actually had enough points from completing the surveys to order one for free. I love this box as it's more colourful and fun than the original Glossybox.
I don't tend to gravitate towards red polishes and I wouldn't choose to purchase one either but seen as though I got it in the little bag I thought I would try it out.
I do really like the vibrancy of the red as it's really bright and I much prefer this shade to say a deeper one. It will go perfectly with a red lace dress I bought a few weeks ago that I showed in my haul.

Packaging:
A glass bottle as the norm with a black plastic lid with the logo implemented on it. The logo on the bottle is easy to spot and looks professional but nothing special. The brush is standard and quite thick as polishes were in the past.

Price: 
$1.99 So they are cheap and cheerful. So for that price they are great to stock up on a range of colours.

Performance:
As I said the brush is quite thick set and picks up lots of polish which drips. It's hard to get the perfect amount to paint your nails and it ended up rather messy.
Although looking at the photos that is the effect of having only one coat on so with two it would probably have more even coverage.
For the price they are a good product to update with colours that are fun or to add a pop of nail art.
As with other nail polishes that I apply, the day after they have started to chip on the ends slightly.
I love the fact they are American as even just that fact makes me want to try out more shades.

Do the 'Monster Mash' NOTD

I tried out another one of my new nail polishes from Lush Lacquer and this one is named 'Monster Mash.'
I love the name of it . It reminds me of when I was younger and hearing the song!
When I saw the name of the nail polish it reminded me of Halloween time and it got me inspired to do baking and play Halloween songs. I now need an actual Halloween CD if there is such a thing!

The white base of this polish is different to any that I have in my collection and it has hexagonal specks of sky blue, bright green and pink inside. The blue and green actually reminds me of Monster's Inc.

I gave my nails  two coats at first,  photographed them and then added a further coat to ensure total opaqueness. The polish was smooth and had a creamy formula, which as you get used to it, gets easier to apply. On some nails again it was a little inconsistent ( as you can see on my little finger nail) but I would million per cent repurchase as it's something that is incredibly unique and the colours match my personality perfectly.

I lost my marbles - Pink glitter NOTD

On a recent polish wishlist that I made, I fell in love with some glitter nail polishes that I had laid my eyes on that were handmade in America. As I didn't hear back to see whether they could ship to the UK, I sourced an alternative on Etsy named Lush Lacquer.

These polishes had colour and glitter that I had never seen before and I knew that I had to have them.
I chose this option of 5 mini polishes as there were too many stand-out polishes for me to choose just one or two from.
 I have never been as excited about polish in my life. Do you know when you see something and you can't get it out of your head until they are yours? This happened to me with these polishes!

It took me a while to decide on which ones to buy and I eventually whittled it down to five. I chose all opaque colours rather than topcoats as I wanted it to be an all in one product. They were some neon glitter colours too which were topcoats and they looked stunning over a white base coat.

I wasn 't sure which polish to try out first so I mixed them up and chose one at random. It happened to be ' I Lost My Marbles' which is a bubblegum pink colour with 'colours of the rainbow' hex glitter inside. (The name of this polish makes me smile.)

Packaging:
The packaging of this nail polish is very simple. The bottle is sturdy and the plastic lid fits securely. The label is made from paper and stuck on to reduce costs which is very basic. Their regular bottles of polish however now use silk screening with the logo on, which will look more professional. However with this product I did not buy it for the packaging , I bought them for the gorgeous polishes that were contained inside so I looked past this.

Price:
I bought five mini bottles which would work out at approximately £3.20 each .Which for the uniqueness is a great price.

Performance:
The brush is a medium size and is quite easy to apply. The formula is good and for the most part applies quite evenly. As you can see in some of my nails there are areas of unevenness.
This polish definitely needs at least two coats to become more opaque. In fact I may even apply a further coat. The shop recommends that a topcoat is used also.
The colour is beautiful and unique and one I would definitely purchase again.

I love how you can choose a pick and mix to try out different mini polishes of your choice without having to buy full sized bottles.
