Jelly Belly - Berry Blue - Lip Balm and Nail Polish Review

What a sweet little set that my mum bought me for Christmas. I absolutely love Jelly Belly's. They're one of my favourite sweeties with cinnamon being my favourite flavour. When I went to Selfridge's at the Trafford Centre in Manchester I used to get the lollipops that were a large hard candy jelly bean and loved them.

This pack is the Jelly Belly Berry Blue which contains a lip balm and a scented nail polish and when searching I found it for £4 on the Superdrug website.

 

The lipbalm is blue in colour and has a subtle berry scent. It applies quite waxy on the lips and lasts a good hour. It applies clear onto the lips so there's no worries about looking like you've just had a blue ice pop! The lipbalm is really smooth to apply and feels smooth on the lips also. It's fun but not one that I would rely on for chapped lips. I do have my eye on the party pack though now as I want to sniff them all.

The polish is in a dinky little bottle and upon opening I noticed that it's a very simple brush and some of the bristles were loose and wonky. It has a thin consistency but is really easy to apply onto your nails. I loved the colour more than I was actually expecting as it was vibrant and a lovely berry blue shade. 

The polish does need more than one coat to be fully opaque but I just used one coat as soon as I try to apply more than one coat on my nails it just smudges no matter how long I leave it to dry. 

The polish  has a very strong chemical smell to it but once it's dried onto the nails it has a lovely berry scent to it which lasts quite a while.

One of the things I look for in a polish is the durability and unfortunately this started to chip on the same day but as fun while it lasted.

Would I buy it again? Yes, to try out the different scents and because they're fun. I would prefer a pink shade next time though and maybe a vibrant orange for summer.

What I bought from the Models Own Sale- Mini Haul

Hi everyone,

Today is my Birthday and I feel special :) We're going out for Tapas soon which I've been to the place once before and it's the best food I have ever eaten. I'll have to blog about it and take photos. 

Models Own had a half price sale and so I bought myself these polishes for my Birthday. There are so many colours to choose from and although I already own tonnes, I just had to try out some more.

Here are the polishes I chose. From left to right they are;

Colour Chrome Gold  This is from the new collection and they all looked gorgeous. I decided to choose this gold colour as it was different from anything that I owned. The brush strokes do show up but with a second application it was much smoother.

Hyper Gel Lilac Sheen I've never tried a gel before and I loved the look of this lilac shade. It's super shiny and a gorgeous pastel shade.

Bubblegum Ice Neon I had a Bubblegum shade from Models Own before but the formula of it was very flaky. I decided to give this Ice Neon one a chance as I adore the neon colour.

Polish For Tans Sunhat I loved the idea of this collection enhancing a tan and I love all of the colours but whittled it down to my favourite colour pink in the end.

Diamond Luxe Radiant Pink I love this shade of pink and how it has the diamond dust inside it too. The colour is very vibrant and looked much more polished with two coats.

Blueberry Muffin Fruit Pastel  I love pastel colours so much and it was hard to resist all of this collection. I chose three in the end as the others were sold out at the time.. I love the shade and shine and the fact that they are scented once dried. I really wanted the coconut cream and Grape Juice and now looking again, I love the look of Apple Pie.

Peach Melba Fruit Pastel  I love peachy colours and the fact that this is also scented is a winner.

Strawberry Tart Fruit Pastel Another pink shade to add to my collection but this time a scented pastel one. It's more of a corally pink shade.

Time to get ready for my Birthday meal now.

My W7 Make Up Advent Calendar - Days 1-12

Happy Saturday everyone.

I am so productive today already. I have completed a lot of to-do things before I have work later on and then a Christmas party to go to straight after!

I was over the moon to have won this W7 advent makeup calendar from W7 themselves. I have witnessed the explosion of the variety of advents that are now available and think that they are a super exciting and brilliant idea. I still have a Milky Bar chocolate one though as you can't beat the original chocolatey ones. Yum!

I really loved the look of the Benefit one ( My favourite make up brand) The Body Shop one and the Yankee Candle one too but I spent my money on Christmas presents for other people instead and couldn't really afford an expensive calendar. So you can imagine I was so excited to have won one of these calendars filled with a different make up treat for each of the 24 days of Christmas.

I've not owned any W7 make up before so what a brilliant way of being introduced to a range of their products all at once.

On the reverse of the Advent calendar it has a spoiler of all of the different treats that you're going to find inside so don't peep if you want it to be a surprise! I'm naughty as I just can't resist. Although having said that I haven't opened the calendar doors unless it's for that specific day.

The calendar opens up like a book and behind each one of the easy to open doors, you find your treat. The numbered days are all in order so they are easy to find.

Here are days 1 and 2.

On the 1st December I opened the door to reveal this gorgeous shade of eyeshadow. I've started to wear more of these bronzey colours as I've got older as they make blue eyes stand out. 

On the 2nd day I received this gold glitter polish which is super Christmassy. I needed two coats of this and was pleased that it lasted a few days.

On the 3rd I received a mini lipstick which applies smoothly and I love the pink shade. I will wear this to work to get my use out of it.

On the 4th day, I received the silver glitter polish which I was pleased with again as it's perfect for this time of year.

The container is quite cheap on this and the lid popped out and fell on the floor. When swatching, the powder feels velvety and required a few swipes to build up the colour.  I will apply this with a quality eyeshadow brush to see if it makes a difference.

I love the shade of this pink lipstick as it's like a Barbie pink candy colour. It applied smoothly and evenly which is great. I'm not keen on the lipstick tube but I suppose it fits into the calendar being a mini.

On the 5th day of Christmas I received this deep pink sparkly glitter polish which is more me. I love glitter polishes as when they start to chip you can just apply more to make it last longer as it just blends in.

On the 6th day, I received this little tube of foundation. After swatching I found that it has a pink undertone and is too dark and bronzey for my skintone. It did however blend really well.

On the 7th day I received this neon pink polish which I love. The colour is so me and what I would buy if I saw it in a shop.

On the 8th day I received this stunning iridescent glitter pot which reminds me of mermaids and I want to bathe in it! I absolutely love this so much.

On the 9th day Of Christmas W7 gave to me this gorgeous pink holographic glitter pot which is just beautiful and uber mermaidy again.

On the 10th day was another hot pink polish which is similar to day 7 but this one is even more neon.

On the 11th day I received this coral lipstick, which again, I love and can't wait to wear.

On the 12th day of Christmas I received a clear lip gloss which I don't really wear but I may add it to a matte lipstick to make it more smooth when applying.

So that's my 12 days of Advent treats with 12 days to go :)

Pink Tease Pastel Mini Nail Polishes Review - Candy Nails

A while ago on Twitter I won a £10 voucher to spend with Make Up Rumours. I managed to buy all of the above make up and put around a pound towards it myself. I'd not heard of the brand Pink Tease before and I like discovering if there any any hidden treasures.

Today I am reviewing the Pastel Mini Nail Polish set which costs a tiny £1.50. Winter pastels are what I'm all about so here I am on a cold November's day bringing you a bit of colour.

You get all of the above six shades in a plastic container which I've thrown away as it wasn't substantial. The nail polish bottles are miniature but I'd say you'd get maybe at least eight separate wears out of each bottle. I gave the bottles a good shake buy you can still see separation and white which needs properly mixing in. The logo isn't printed in great quality on the bottles either as I can see some missing parts on letters already.

I decided to wear all six shades on my nails at once and I like the look of the finished result. 

The polish was easy to apply but needed a decent amount of polish on the brush so I kept on having to dip it back in the pot. 

With one coat, the polish was uneven and streaky so I left a decent amount of drying time and then added a further coat. The lemon shade was the most transparent of the collection and even with a second coat you can see my nail underneath still. I also noticed that the polishes smelt strong too which I didn't like.

The polishes aren't given shade names which is a shame as you are then left to your own imagination to try and describe them. The polish looks glossy and I love the blue and pink shades but sadly they chipped very quickly on me. I didn't use a topcoat however so if you like the look of these polishes then you can always see if they last longer with one.

What I love about them:

I love the pastel pink and blue shades.

I love the affordability of them.

They look really glossy.

What I don't love:

The logos on the bottles aren't great quality.

The polishes have a strong smell to them.

They don't have shade names.

The yellow is far too transparent.

They don't have good longevity.

BeautyUk Pink You've Had Enough - Nail Polish Review

Pink is my favourite colour for more or less everything. I just can't get enough of it. When I saw this shade, *Pink you've had enough on BeautyUk's website, I wanted to try it. It does look a more coral pink on the website but in real life it's more of a bright Barbie pink instead. 

I went through a stage of having bare nails whilst I moved house and when I got back into a routine I found that painting my nails makes me feel that I've made an effort and instantly makes me feel dressed up.

The brush and consistency of this polish made it really easy to apply to my nails perfectly and I loved the glossy finish. It has a mostly smooth finish and only one coat is shown in the photos. Two coats are needed for a even look.

I used this polish on a bright sunny day and it was perfect for this type of day. I would still wear it on dull days and with monochrome too so that it adds fun.  

I absolutely love this colour and it really stood out ( especially against my Mickey Mouse pants which are super comfortable!)

The wearability on this without a topcoat was two days on my nails which is great as polish usually chips on the same day with me.

The polishes are affordable too at £2.99 per bottle.

BeautyUk Nail Polish Review - Daffodil Delight

Hi everyone,

The weather has been so sunny here in Edinburgh lately and so I'm making the most of the sunshine in the garden. This *Daffodil Delight from BeautyUK fits in perfectly with the bright weather and me holding onto the memories of the Summer just gone. I've never really worn yellow polish before so it was good to rock something new. It's a really unique colour which to me makes a fashion statement. The polish is priced at £2.99 which is very reasonable and you can buy it online direct from BeautyUK or from Superdrug stores also.

The polish requires two coats to ensure that you get an even finish and I found that it lasted really well on my nails so bonus points for that. As I've mentioned before, polish seems to chip on the same day as I wear it, so this to last a few days on my nails was fab. It was quite quick to dry too as compared to other polishes I've tried, I end up smudging them as they don't dry quick enough for me. I usually polish my nails at the last minute before I've got to be somewhere so a fast drying time is essential to me.

The polish really stood out and I think it could be incorporated into Autumn time too with mustard shades and navy blue hues.

Models Own Nail Polish Review- Sweet Shop Gumballs

Hello. How are you all?

 Just a little update before I begin to let you know that I am moving house next week and therefore my WiFi may be MIA soon. I am also starting a new job tomorrow which I'm really looking forward to. Probably for the first time in my life without any stress. So my blog posts may be a little hit and miss until I have settled in and got a routine going on. 

Models Own have just released the Sweet Shop Collection, which for me was an absolute necessity to own. I really wanted to try the Revlon scented polishes and never got around to getting any so when I saw these and they were sweetie scented, I needed them. I love the collections that Models Own keep coming out with and want the polish for tans collection and the previous fruit pastel collection too. The polishes are meant to have a scratch and sniff sticker on the top of them and I was disappointed to find that mine have them missing.

The collection comprises of five different polishes all with a retro sweet scent. The scents transport me back to my childhood and have a nostalgic feel about them. There's a pink glitter which, when dried, has a Rhubarb and Custard scent, Barbie pink Gumballs, a pink glitter 'Peardrops,' brown glitter 'Fizzy cola bottles' and finally a black polish which has the scent Liquorice Allsorts.

 There are three pink /red shades, a brown tone and a black. If I had produced this collection I would have made a variety of shades such as Foam Banana yellow or white mice just so it could have been more versatile. To have the smell of sweeties on your nails almost makes my life complete. I absolutely love the idea of these and have tried out Gumballs so far which I have written the review on for today.

  From left to right we have Gumballs, Pear Drops, Rhubarb and Custard, Liquorice Allsorts and Fizzy Cola Bottles.

I love the tissue paper that the polishes came wrapped in. They were also bubble wrapped inside the box too.

Gumball is my favourite shade out of the whole collection and if I was to just purchase one this would be it. The colour is a Barbie pink and makes a staple summer colour. 

I found the polish to be thick and quite hard to apply evenly to my nails. I did only need one coat on my nails for it to be opaque but it took a while to dry and smudged easily.

I did sniff the polish in the bottle thinking it might smell of gumballs but unfortunately it just gave me a huge waft of the regular scent of nail polish ha ha! I won't be trying that again.

The polish was placed over a base coat once dried and it produced a really glossy effect. One it dried on my nails, it left an absolutely gorgeous smell of bubblegum (gumballs) which I found irresistible and kept on sniffing my nails at regular intervals throughout the day. The scent stayed after showering too which was great as I thought it may have eliminated the smell.

I didn't use a topcoat on this. My thinking was that it might mask the gumball scent. The polish lasted for the longest amount of time without chipping on my nails which was a record- breaking 3 days. I have the type of nails where polish chips on the same day as application.

Overall, I would repurchase for the scent of the polish but I'm hoping that the others in the collection have an easier formula to apply.

Vanilla Nail Polish Remover Pads By NPR - Review

Happy Friday everyone :)

Today I have a nail polish remover review for you. I saw this NPW Nail Polish Remover in the scent of vanilla in the River Island sale at Christmas time and I was attracted to it because of the bright packaging and the thought of the scent just sold it to me. I think it was £1 in the sale and regularly £2. 

Nail polish doesn't last very long on my nails before it starts to chip so nail polish remover is a must for me. I really don't like the chipped nail look as it makes me feel really untidy. 

I searched for NPR and the website came up with a whole host of goodies that I now want! I really want to try out the heart nail wheel that they have and the neon nail polish too. They even have scratch and sniff nail wraps. Anything cute and quirky and I need it in my life.

The cute little tub contains 30 nail wipes so they will, in effect, last for 30 uses if you use the recommended 1 wipe at a time. They are also alcohol and acetone free which is great. The tub is really small so it is great for travelling with as it won't take up much space at all.

Clear instructions are displayed on the bottom of the packaging on the label.

Here I have showed you my nails on purpose so that you can see how chipped they are before I use the nail remover wipe.

The wipes are thin so make sure that you don't pick out more than one by accident. You can smell the scent of sweetness if you smell the pot but it is more evident after you start wiping your nails. The vanilla scent stays on your nails.

Here is what the wipe looks like after taking off one of the Barry M Aquarium collection. I have previously used the wipes on a reddy coloured polish and it took two wipes to remove so the darker the colour, the more severe it looks on the wipe.

Here is the finished result which I'm really pleased with. The wipe was really gentle and removed the nail polish quite easily. A few areas needed going over again but I'm impressed that one little wipe did the whole set of nails this time.

Would I repurchase? Yes I would as they are really useful to have, I like the scent and the performance that they have. I would be more inclined to repurchase if they were at the £1 mark.
